| Seriously... where does the time go? I had once attempted to keep up this blog. Alas, I have clearly failed. I have developed no great love for xanga.com, despite an effort on my part. I am still loyally blogging on myspace.com. (I am still appropriately ashamed.)
If anyone is interested in viewing my blog there, please feel free to look me up under the name "quiet*surrealism."
As for the basic updates... I'm still working as a staff writer.
And, while I still love my job and still deeply respect my editor, the basic quality of the work environment is going downhill dramatically. A new advertising rep was hired at the beginning of the year. Since that time, she has taken it upon herself to drag across half of the staff from her old employer to the new office. It's driving me up the wall. Most of her recruits, or "conquests," as I call them, are just as trashy as she is. It's like a trailer park in the back office, these days. And, the rest of the staff (myself NOT included) have about 20 years seniority -- each. They've all been here FOREVER, and it used to be a pretty pleasant place to work. She and the new staff have changed that. Specifically her. The rest of the staff are mostly just innocent, trashy bystanders. And, now she has a replacement for the branch office -- and will have her food in the door, there, too. Ode to joy! That's just what she needs, more power!! Anyway... wow, that was a rant!!
Moving along, I've relocated to an apartment closer to the office, and like it, for now. Being nomadic, I never love one place for very long. It's just my nature. I've reconciled myself with that fact. It took a long time. More on that in my myspace.com blog!!
I now depart from xanga.com for what is likely to be another inordinate amount of time.

| Nearly 1/2 a year later, I am making my great return to xanga. I have been terrible about keeping up with my blog on myspace.com, recently, despite my irrational, but profound l ve for the site.
However, I find that journaling is a good tool. Thus, tonight I put my thoughts down on "paper," choosing to do so in this forum.
I am completely mentally exhausted. I have been working long, crazy hours, a large percentage of which are unpaid hours. Is that dedication or stupidity? In either event, it is rewarding.
I admit that I still get a thrill from seeing my byline every week... and seeing my material in print. I am *paid* to write, which is the most thrilling thing I've accomplished in a while.
During my extended absence from xanga, I was promoted to the position of Staff Writer at the newspaper for which I write. It was quite an honor, for me!
I try to find pleasure in the little things, and that, to me, was fantastic!
Other than that, my life has remained largely quiet and unchanged -- both of which are good things!
My cat and I are content to spend evenings in, typing and working. There are certainly worse ways to live!!
Well, as it is quite late, for me, I think I will be off to bed. I will keep xanga in mind as a possible format for my limited, spurratic journaling habits! | | |
| So... this is my first blog on xanga. I've been told that this site "kicks ass." Regarding that, I am -- thus far -- neutral.
Mind you, I already "blog" on myspace.com, much to my chagrin. It's all my counselor's fault, really... he suggested I keep a diary. I informed him I would never be capable of the upkeep on a paper diary. I told him I might compromise and keep one online. He conceded that this was okay, as it was much more likely to happen than the alternative.
I suppose I will post this first entry, then... if this site becomes as "addictive" as myspace.com, I will be forced to keep two blogs. *shakes her head*
Well, the most exciting thing I have accomplished thus far, today, is doing some laundry. It wasn't a desperate "laundry day" situation, yet, but... I thought I'd catch it before it got there, and I wound up wearing pajamas to work or anything.
Hmm... nope. Other than that my life is kind of ordinary.
So much for an exciting first entry!
